What areas does Cardinal Buildings serve?
Cardinal Buildings LLC is headquartered in Harrisburg, Illinois and delivers custom portable buildings across southern Illinois, eastern Missouri, western Kentucky, southern Indiana and northern Tennessee. Along with our main office we have partner lots in Paducah KY, Carterville IL, Cottage Hills IL, Jackson MO, Anna IL, Waterloo IL, Portland TN and Franklin KY, and we deliver well beyond those towns. If you are not sure whether we reach you, call 618-518-5578 and we will tell you straight.
What styles of portable buildings do you build?
We build fifteen core styles: Lofted Barn, Barn, Lofted Garden Shed, Garden Shed, Utility, Cabin, Lofted Cabin, Side Porch Cabin, Victorian Shed, Victorian Cabin, Garage, Lofted Garage, Horse Barn, Studio Shed and the EcoShed. Every one of them can be customized, and if none of them fit we will design something that does. You can browse them all on our building styles page.
Can I design my own building online?
Yes. Our free 3D building designer lets you pick a style, set the size, choose siding and trim colors, shingles, doors, windows and options, and see the building rotate in real time before you ever talk to a salesperson. When you are happy with it you can send the design straight to us for a quote.
Do you offer rent-to-own with no credit check?
Yes. Our rent-to-own program requires no credit check and does not affect your FICO score, and there is no money down required with approved terms. It is the fastest way for most people to get into a building. Details are on our credit options page.
What traditional financing options do you offer?
We partner with Peoples State Bank, GreenSky, Upgrade and Enhancify for customers who prefer a traditional loan. Pre-approval uses a soft credit pull with no effect on your score, and terms include 12 months at 0% APR or 7, 10, 12 and 15 year terms with no money down on approved credit. Rates start as low as 7.99% and approval is possible with credit scores as low as 550. See our credit options page for current offers and disclosures.
How much does a portable building cost?
Pricing starts at $1,900 for a 6×8 C+ Utility and $2,762 for a Cardinal Utility 8×8. From there the price moves with size, siding and paint package, roof, doors and windows, and any add-ons you choose. The fastest way to get a real number on the exact building you want is to configure it in our 3D Shed Builder or call 618-518-5578.
What is the lowest rent-to-own payment you offer?
Our lowest rent-to-own payment is $75.44 per month on a 6×8 building with a 60-month term. Larger buildings and shorter terms carry higher payments. Rent-to-own requires no credit check, so your credit score is not a factor and applying does not affect it.
How long are your rent-to-own terms?
We write rent-to-own agreements from 24 months up to 60 months. A shorter term means a higher monthly payment and less paid overall; a longer term keeps the monthly payment as low as possible. You pick the term that fits your budget.
How much money down do I need for rent-to-own?
Rent-to-own requires the first two months as your deposit. There is no credit check and no bank involved. See our financing options for the full picture, or call 618-518-5578.
Can I pay my rent-to-own agreement off early?
Yes. There is no early payoff fee and no penalty for paying ahead. We do not offer an early payoff discount, but you are free to pay the building off any time you want without it costing you extra.
How much is the deposit on a custom order?
Custom cash orders take 20% down. If you would rather not put money down at all, we offer no money down financing with approved credit. Details are on our financing page.
How long does it take to get my building delivered?
Under normal circumstances stock models are delivered in 1 to 12 business days, and custom orders are typically delivered in 3 to 6 weeks. The exact timeline depends on sales volume when you order, so ask us for the current lead time when you place your order.
Will someone call me before my building is delivered?
Yes. You will get a verification call roughly 7 to 14 business days after your order is placed, and we contact you again with delivery arrangements several days before the building actually arrives.
How do I prepare my site for delivery?
Your site needs to be relatively level and reachable. Our delivery crew needs at least two feet of clearance beyond the width of the building, roughly 13 feet of overhead clearance, and more room to swing the longer the building is. Clear low branches and obstructions ahead of time, get written permission in advance if the crew has to cross a neighbor property, and clean up any pet refuse in the delivery area. Full details are on our preparing for delivery page.
Do I need a concrete pad?
No, but the pad matters. A level concrete pad is the ultimate choice and the most expensive. A level gravel pad is a very good option and the one we recommend most often. What matters most is that the area is level and stable so the building sits square and the doors work correctly for years.
Can you deliver into a tight backyard?
Usually, yes. Our delivery system is built for tight spots: when needed the building is unloaded at the street and then rolled back into place, so we are not dragging trucks and trailers through your yard. Send us photos or measurements of the access and we will tell you honestly whether it will fit.
Do you deliver on Saturdays?
No. Our delivery crews run Monday through Friday. When your building is ready we call ahead to schedule a weekday delivery window that works for you, so you know when to have the site clear and accessible. See preparing for delivery for the full checklist.
Can I look at buildings in stock without an appointment?
Yes. You can walk the inventory at any of our locations 24/7 and look at what is on the lot on your own schedule. Staffed hours vary by location, so if you want to talk to someone in person or get inside a locked model, call your local dealer first or reach our main office at 618-518-5578.
Can I customize the colors and options on my building?
Yes, extensively. You can choose metal, painted, standard vinyl, premium vinyl or urethane siding, pick your shingle color, add wainscot, shutters, flower boxes, extra windows and doors, upgrade flooring, and add a loft. Everything is shown on our custom options page and in the 3D designer.
What is the smallest and largest building you build?
The smallest building we build is a 6×8 and the largest is a 16×60, with most standard sizes in between. If you need something between the catalog sizes or a layout that is not shown, we build custom, so tell us what you are trying to fit and we will build to it.
What warranty comes with a Cardinal building?
Every Cardinal building carries a 10 year guarantee. It protects your building against acts of nature such as storm damage and settling, and it covers our craftsmanship. If something is covered, we repair it or replace it.
Are the siding and floor covered by a separate warranty?
Yes, and both are long. The LP SmartSide siding on our buildings carries a 50 year warranty, and the AdvanTech flooring carries a lifetime warranty. Just as important: we handle the claim for you. Most companies hand you a phone number and make you fight the manufacturer on your own. We do not.
Can you insulate or finish out the inside of my building?
Yes. We offer spray foam insulation, and we offer finish-out packages that include electrical, flooring and wall coverings. That is what makes these buildings work as a home office, a she shed, a workshop or a hobby room. We do not do plumbing in house, but we will help you find the right contractor for it. Browse the custom options to see what else you can add.
Do you take trade-ins or buy back used buildings?
No, we do not take trade-ins and we do not buy back used buildings. We only sell new buildings built in our own shop.
Do I need a permit for a portable building?
It depends entirely on your city and county. Many rural areas require nothing at all, while some municipalities and HOAs have setback, size or anchoring rules. Call your local zoning or building office before you order, and let us know what they require so we can build to spec.
Do you still have a lot in Farmington, Festus, New Baden or Princeton?
Those lots are closed, but we absolutely still sell and deliver to those areas. Order through our main office at 618-518-5578 or design your building in our 3D designer, and we will deliver right to you.
How do I get a quote?
Three easy ways: build it yourself in the 3D designer and submit it, fill out our custom quote request, or just call 618-518-5578 and talk to a real person. Quotes are free and there is no obligation.
