Every hobby starts on the kitchen table and ends up somewhere it does not belong. A dedicated building solves it, but a generic shed does not, because each of these hobbies has one requirement that will make or break the space.
Woodworking: power and dust
A table saw, a planer and a dust collector are a real electrical load, and you cannot run them off a cord from the house. Get the electrical built in. Our finish-out packages include electrical, flooring and wall coverings, and specifying the circuits during the build costs a fraction of retrofitting.
Dust is the second issue. Plan for a collector and give yourself a wall to vent from, and understand that a sealed insulated shop needs a way to move air. A 12×20 is workable, a 14×24 lets you break down a full sheet of plywood without going outside, which is the real threshold.
Motorcycles: door, floor and humidity
A wide enough door to roll a bike in without wrestling it, a hard flat floor for a jack and a stand, and humidity control so the chrome and the fuel system survive. Spray foam insulation stops the daily temperature swing that puts condensation on cold metal. Add power for a battery tender. A 10×16 holds two bikes and a bench; a 12×20 holds more and gives you room to work.
Reloading and gunsmithing: security and climate
This one is about lockup and stability. A heavy hasp bolted through the door with carriage bolts, a shrouded padlock, non-removable hinge pins, no window in the door, and nothing valuable left out there long term. Insulation matters because powder and primers want a stable, dry environment, not a building that goes from 20 degrees to 85 in a day. Good bench light and a solid, non-flexing bench are worth specifying.
Crafts, sewing, art, music: light and comfort
These are the hobbies people abandon when the space is uncomfortable, so insulation, real lighting and a finished interior are not luxuries, they are the whole point. More windows on the wall you will work at, transom glass over the door, spray foam, and a finished wall you can hang things on. What all of them need
Insulation, ventilation, electrical and enough size that you are not moving one thing to get to another. Almost nobody regrets going one size up. We build from 6×8 to 16×60.

Set it up right underneath
A level gravel pad about a foot larger than the building on all sides is fine for most hobby buildings. If you are rolling heavy machinery or a bike lift around, concrete is worth the extra. Either way, drainage away from all four walls.

Buildings start at $1,900 for a C+ Utility 6×8 and $2,762 for a Cardinal Utility 8×8, with insulation and finish-out priced as options. Rent-to-own has no credit check, runs 24 to 60 months, starts at $75.44 a month, takes your first two months as the deposit and carries no early payoff fee.
