Portable Buildings in Vienna, IL and Johnson County: Delivering to Rural Acreage

Johnson County is mostly not subdivisions. It is acreage, timber, gravel lanes and properties where the spot you want the building is four hundred feet from the road. That changes what you should buy and how you should plan the delivery.

Talk about the lane before you talk about the building

On rural property the limiting factor is almost never the yard. It is the lane. Ask yourself: how tight is the turn off the county road, how wide is the lane at its narrowest point, is there a culvert or a low water crossing, and what does the ground do after two days of rain. A delivery truck with a loaded trailer needs firm ground, about two feet of clearance past the width of the building along the whole route, and roughly 13 feet of overhead room. Low limbs over a gravel lane are the number one thing that turns a delivery into a reschedule, and they are the easiest thing to fix with an afternoon and a pole saw.

If the spot truly cannot be reached, tell us up front. There are usually options, including setting the building at an accessible point and moving it later, or adjusting the size.

Sizing for equipment, not for boxes

Rural storage is dimensional. A compact tractor with a loader is roughly 10 to 12 feet long with the bucket down and needs headroom for the ROPS. A brush hog, a box blade and a small trailer all want floor, not shelf. If you are storing implements, a 12×24 is the smallest building that stops feeling cramped, and a 14×32 lets you park the tractor and still walk around it. We build up to 16×60, which on a farm usually becomes half equipment bay and half shop.

For a hunting property, a smaller building does different work. A 10×16 with a window and spray foam insulation becomes a dry, warm place to sleep, hang gear and process game without hauling everything home. Add our finish-out package with electrical, flooring and wall coverings and it is close to a cabin.

Built to sit outside for twenty years

Buildings on rural property do not get babied. Ours use LP SmartSide siding with a 50 year warranty and AdvanTech flooring with a lifetime warranty, and we handle warranty claims for you. Every Cardinal building also carries a 10 year guarantee covering storm damage, settling and our own craftsmanship, repaired or replaced.

What it costs and how to pay

Buildings start at $1,900 for a C+ Utility 6×8 and $2,762 for a Cardinal Utility 8×8. Rent-to-own is available with no credit check on 24 to 60 month terms, from $75.44 a month, with your first two months as the deposit and no penalty for paying it off early. Custom cash orders take 20% down, or you can finance with no money down with approved credit.
